First of all, let’s assume I’m an idiot. K.*
I’m flying into Newark tomorrow night, supposed to arrive at 10:30. I have no checked bags, all carry-on.
I need to get to Penn Station NYC.
Google Maps shows me taking the AirTrain from the airport to the airport train station. Yes? Is it too much to assume I could catch this first train at 10:50, granted my flight is on time?
From the airport train station I take a New Jersey Transit train all the way to Penn NYC (not an AMTRAK!!, as I have read online it’s more expensive).
It’s my understanding that this can all be done with one ticket for around $10?
Where do I buy this ticket? At the airport, at the airport train station after I have already taken the AirTrain? And I also mean “where” do I literally buy the ticket - machine, ticket booth/window? And what is it called? If I were to ask a person for guidance, what do I tell them I need?

*I don’t care much for cities, and especially do not care for vehicles that 1. I’m not driving, and 2. are any form of public transit.

At the airport train station after the AirTrain... usually a machine. Worst comes to worst, just ask a police officer or someone who looks like they know what they’re doing.
Apologies for having to go to Penn Station.

I’ve made this trek many times! Follow the signs to the air train. There are a couple of machines at the base of the escalator where you can buy tickets all the way to penn station. If you miss those, there's another set of machines at the transfer station.

Take an Uber from Newark to the NJ Transit station. Then you can buy a ticket at one of the kiosks in the lobby.

There should be a blue machine for NJ Transit. You can also download the NJ Transit app. I haven’t purchased a ticket on there but apparently it’s possible. I’ve ridden the train from Hamilton to Penn Station and it’s a $30 round trip and Newark is one of the last couple stops before Penn. $10 sounds reasonable.
If you can’t figure it out, no shame in asking someone who works there. Just be like, “I’m not from here and need a NJ Transit ticket to NYC. How do I buy one?” And they will direct you.

Won’t have data on my phone in the US so no Uber. But kiosks in the lobby sounds like something I can handle lol

Awesome. So the AirTain doesn’t require a ticket from the airport to the airport train station
